Woohoo! JetBlue's Unlimited Travel Pass Is Back

by Patricia Magaña, SmarterTravel Staff - July 28, 2011 at 3:15 PM

Three months of unlimited travel on JetBlue for one fixed price? Believe it—at least if you live near Boston or Long Beach. The ultra-popular low-cost carrier has announced the return of its unlimited travel program, but only if you book by August 31 (or until supplies last) and only for select departure cities. A fair warning: If the last two years are an indication, these passes will likely sell out earlier than expected.

JetBlue's BluePass is available to members of the airline's TrueBlue frequent flyer program (free to join) and costs between $1,299 and $1,999, dependent on the origin city and package, excluding taxes and fees.

    Here's the breakdown:

•$1,299 for Long Beach flights to Las Vegas, Oakland, San Francisco, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, Portland, Seattle, Austin, and Chicago.
•$1,499 for Boston to New York City (JFK), Newark, Baltimore, Buffalo, Washington, D.C., (Reagan and Dulles), Richmond, Pittsburgh, Raleigh, Charlotte, Chicago (O' Hare), Bermuda, and Jacksonville.
•$1,999 for Boston to any city on JetBlue's route network.
Pass holders can book any available seat as early as August 15 for flights August 22 through November 22, any day of the week and as late as 90 minutes prior to departure. Stand-by seats and the last seat on the flight are game, too. And as a big bonus, change or cancellation fees are waived for BluePass ticket holders. (Ticket change fees top off at $100 with JetBlue.) Plus, BluePass flights are eligible for mileage accrual. And as we all know, JetBlue boards your first bag for free.

I like JetBlue's offering, but with a caveat: Last year's similar promo, which ran around the same time, cost $499—a price difference of up to 75 percent—and included all domestic taxes and fees. Last year's pass, however, excluded travel on Fridays and Sundays; required three day's advance purchase; and was only applicable from early September through early October, a less sought-after travel period.

For those not in the sale's areas, spread the love and share this deal with your Boston and Long Beach friends via a FaceBook or Twitter post. Maybe they'll thank you with a visit!
